SHORT HIStORY
FEA, MGL, DRV, and SLD were initiated by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in conjunction with dam-building at each of the
sites. The UGC&GS installed the equipment under a special arrangement with the Bureau. The USC&GS continued to run the stations
until the Bureau no longer required the stations, at which time the stations were given to the California Department of Water
Resources in 1968. Telemetering of these stations began at that time.
JAS is funded by the Department of Water Resources and is run jointly with the University of California, Berkeley.
