SHORT HISTORY
ASO was opened 1n November 1911 wah equ~pment borrowed from w1IIard £. Groene (see Mi'1A) ,n , corner basement off~ce 1n
the Geology Department at the University. It operat.ed continuously to mid-1976. Mrs. Willard Groene donated all of the late
Mr. Groene's seismic equipment to the Geology Department in late 1975. His TS-100 timing system ,,"'as then incorporat.ed in
January 1916. The st.ation is expect.ed to be operational in 1978.
