SHORT HISTORY
The Kidd Memorial Seismic Observator:y was founded in 1959 through donations made in the mf>mory of Professor John Kidd, a
key figure in the early history of the University at El Paso. Fulltime operation was begun in February 1962. The original
instruments were three-component short-periods. The WWSSN instruments were moved from OXF, Oxford, Miss. , ,nd began operation
on June 7, 1977 .
