SHORT HISTORY
Although the station opened in 1943, operation did not become continuous until 1946 with the installation of a Wilson­
Lamison vertical and a Wood-Anderson horizontal. In 1956 the instrumentation was expanded. On December 15, 1961, the WWSSN
equipment was installt·d. Until 1974, recording was fairly conLinuous. ExcepLions were a pt:'riod between April 1967 and
December 1969, when no recording was made, and from 1969 to 1973, when several months of data gaps occurred. In November 1974
the station was tCUipolatil y shut dOwII "ecause of construction nearby. An effort is being made to make the station opclalional
again.
