Introduction
Much has been said, discussed and written
about the way we are pushing the Earth astutely to
the brink of destruction under the garb of ‘Nation
Building’, ‘Security’ and ‘Poverty Alleviation’. It is
fashionable and suave to sound concerned about the
irredeemable damage being done to the planet and
the ruthless uprooting of its fragile ecology. Earth Day,
Coastal Cleanship Day and Environment Day are
observed with absolute gusto, men and resources are
rallied with banners and placards under the full glare
of media. Summits and brain storming sessions are
organized and end up with a customary coffee. Alas,
across the board all parties are unwilling to budge
from their single minded pursuit, no consensus is
reached on a joint mechanism to tackle the
emergency. Business is as usual with intent reigning
supreme over actions and consequences. Is the
required being done? As various regulatory bodies
responsible for safeguarding environment are
