Procedures for Amending the Constitution<br />

A. Amending Articles III, IV, or IX<br />

1. A proposal to make the following changes to the<br />

Constitution must be submitted in writing to the Executive<br />

Committee of the Council of Bishops at least one year in<br />

advance of the next General Conference:<br />

a. To delete Article III, The Apostles’ Creed, or<br />

b. To amend Article IV, Articles of Faith, or<br />

c. To amend Article IX, Procedures for Amending the<br />

Constitution<br />

2. Once reviewed by the Executive Committee of the Council<br />

of Bishops, the proposed deletion/amendment shall be<br />

submitted for approval to the Council of Bishops. Such<br />

amendment must be approved by a two-thirds majority of<br />

the Council of Bishops.<br />

3. Once approved by the Council of Bishops, the proposed<br />

deletion/amendment shall be submitted for approval at the<br />

next General Conference. Such amendment to the Articles<br />

of Faith must be approved by a two-thirds majority of the<br />

votes cast at a duly convened General Conference<br />

Session.<br />

4. Once approved by a two-thirds majority vote of the General<br />

Conference in session, the proposed deletion/amendment<br />

must be submitted to each Conference in a called or<br />

regular session and approved by two thirds of all delegates<br />

voting in all Conferences. Once approved by two thirds of<br />

all delegates voting in all Conferences, the<br />

deletion/amendment shall become effective.<br />

B. Amending Articles I, II, V, VI, VII, or VIII<br />

1. A proposed amendment to the following articles of the<br />

Constitution must be submitted in writing to the Executive<br />
