Article VIII. <strong>Church</strong> Property and Titles<br />
to acquire title and possession. If two thirds of the<br />
congregation of the local church shall move to another<br />
place of worship, retaining its status as an operating<br />
International Pentecostal Holiness <strong>Church</strong> Member<br />
<strong>Church</strong>, the local church may, with the written approval of<br />
the Conference Executive Council, sell its former church<br />
property or hold it for a reasonable time for future sale, and<br />
may retain the proceeds of the sale for local church use.<br />
9. Each deed to an unincorporated local church shall contain<br />
language substantially as follows: [Seller], to [Trustee],<br />
[Trustee], [Trustee], trustees for the [Name of the <strong>Church</strong>]<br />
International Pentecostal Holiness <strong>Church</strong>, an<br />
unincorporated church association, and their successors in<br />
office. The following paragraph should appear after the<br />
property description:<br />
This conveyance is made for the use and benefit of the<br />
ministry and membership of the International<br />
Pentecostal Holiness <strong>Church</strong>, in accordance with the<br />
faith of said church and provisions of the International<br />
Pentecostal Holiness <strong>Church</strong> <strong>Manual</strong>. This provision is<br />
for the benefit of the grantee, and grantor reserves no<br />
right or interest in the premises.<br />
This same paragraph shall appear in a deed to an<br />
incorporated church. It should also be recommended for a<br />
will devising property to a local church.<br />
C. Conference Property<br />
1. Each Conference shall have the same rights and duties<br />
with regard to its ownership, sale, and mortgaging of real<br />
property as is set out above for Planted Member <strong>Church</strong>es.<br />
The relationship of the Conference to the International<br />
Pentecostal Holiness <strong>Church</strong>, Inc., shall be the same<br />
relationship as between the Planted Member <strong>Church</strong> and<br />
the Conference with regard to the ownership, sale, and<br />
mortgaging of real property. When it is determined by the<br />
International Pentecostal Holiness <strong>Church</strong>, Inc., that a<br />
Conference shall have ceased using its church property in<br />
accordance with the faith of the church and provisions of<br />
