Bylaws<br />
Article VI. Trials and Appeals<br />
e. During the trial, witnesses shall be required to answer<br />
questions asked only by the counsel for the defendant,<br />
the selected spokesman, and presiding chairman.<br />
f. Cross-examination shall be in order. The chairman<br />
shall allow no unfair procedures that affect the<br />
testimony.<br />
4. Disciplinary Action<br />
a. Disciplinary actions may consist of:<br />
1) Indefinite dismissal<br />
2) Suspension, the length of which should be based<br />
on the severity of charges.<br />
b. This applies to Conference and Council of Bishops<br />
levels only. All disciplinary actions should be declared<br />
in a spirit of love and concern with the intent of<br />
restoration.<br />
5. Appeals<br />
a. All defendants shall have the right of appeal to the next<br />
highest council whose determination shall be final.<br />
The appeal system is as follows:<br />
1) The decision of the local church may be appealed<br />
to the Conference Executive Council.<br />
2) The decision of the Conference Executive Council<br />
may be appealed to the Executive Committee.<br />
3) The decision of the Executive Committee may be<br />
appealed to the Council of Bishops.<br />
b. All appeals must be submitted in writing by the<br />
defendant or counsel within two (2) weeks of the trial.<br />
c. The council considering the appeal may request briefs<br />
of summation from the selected spokesman and<br />
counsel for the defense.<br />
