Article VI. Trials and Appeals<br />
Holiness <strong>Church</strong> or act as his own counsel. The<br />
Conference Superintendent shall set the time and<br />
place for the trial as expeditiously as possible and<br />
chair the proceedings. A two-thirds vote of the<br />
judiciary committee shall declare the verdict.<br />
An exception shall be that if the Conference<br />
Executive Council is preferring the charges, then<br />
the Conference Executive Council shall appoint a<br />
judiciary committee equal in number to but<br />
separate from the Conference Executive Council.<br />
4) Any member failing to appear for trial forfeits his<br />
membership and right of appeal.<br />
5) When formal charges are brought against a<br />
member of the Conference Executive Council,<br />
he shall be suspended by the Conference<br />
Superintendent until the matter is settled.<br />
6) When formal charges are brought against a<br />
Conference Superintendent, the General<br />
Superintendent will suspend him until the matter<br />
is settled.<br />
7) When formal charges are brought against a<br />
member of the Conference, the Conference<br />
Superintendent shall suspend him until the matter<br />
is settled.<br />
8) When charges are filed in a Conference against a<br />
minister who has transferred or been seconded to<br />
another Conference, the General Superintendent<br />
and the two Conference Superintendents shall<br />
decide which Conference shall settle the matter. If<br />
a trial is necessary, the same procedures shall be<br />
followed as with other clergy.<br />
c. Council of Bishops<br />
1) When signed accusations are presented to the<br />
General Superintendent against a member of the<br />
Council of Bishops, the Executive Committee shall<br />
investigate the matter.<br />
