Article IV. Clergy<br />
ministries, youth, music, children’s ministries, visitation,<br />
evangelism, etc. This certificate is to be signed by the<br />
Senior Pastor and church secretary and shall be<br />
recognized by all International Pentecostal Holiness<br />
churches.<br />
G. Divorce and Remarriage<br />
1. A divorced and remarried Christian will be eligible for<br />
consideration to receive a Local <strong>Church</strong> Minister’s<br />
Certificate, Minister’s License, or Ordination in the<br />
International Pentecostal Holiness <strong>Church</strong> when one of the<br />
following applies:<br />
a. The candidate’s former spouse has died or remarried.<br />
b. The candidate was divorced and remarried prior to<br />
Christian conversion.<br />
c. The candidate’s former marriage partner was guilty of<br />
sexual immorality and was unwilling to repent and live<br />
faithfully with the candidate (Matthew 5:31, 32;<br />
Matthew 19:8, 9).<br />
d. The candidate’s former marriage partner was an<br />
unbeliever who willingly and permanently deserted the<br />
believing spouse (1 Corinthians 7:15, 25-28).<br />
e. The candidate’s divorce was based on circumstances<br />
that compromised the safety of the candidate and/or<br />
children.<br />
2. The following procedures shall be used in considering<br />
eligibility for persons who have been divorced and<br />
remarried under the provisions stated above (1.a-e):<br />
The person desiring to receive Local <strong>Church</strong> Minister’s<br />
Certificate, Minister’s License, or Ordination shall present<br />
himself before a duly appointed Conference committee for<br />
examination to determine any factor that would limit his<br />
influence or reflect on his character. He will have proven<br />
himself to be faithful to the biblical passages of 1 Timothy<br />
3:1-13 and Titus 1:6-9 for a period of two (2) years<br />
