Bylaws<br />
Article III. Organizational Structure – Local <strong>Church</strong>es<br />
(a) The candidate’s former spouse has<br />
died or remarried.<br />
(b) The candidate was divorced and<br />
remarried prior to Christian conversion.<br />
(c) The candidate’s former marriage<br />
partner was guilty of sexual immorality<br />
and was unwilling to repent and live<br />
faithfully with the candidate (Matthew<br />
5:31, 32; Matthew 19:8, 9).<br />
(d) The candidate’s former marriage<br />
partner was an unbeliever who willingly<br />
and permanently deserted the<br />
believing spouse (1 Corinthians 7:15,<br />
25-28).<br />
(e) The candidate’s divorce was based on<br />
circumstances that compromised the<br />
safety of the candidate and/or children.<br />
(2) The following procedures shall be used in<br />
considering eligibility for persons who have<br />
been divorced and remarried under the<br />
provisions stated above (1.a-e):<br />
The person desiring the ministry of deacon<br />
or elder or other position on the Local<br />
<strong>Church</strong> Administrative Council shall<br />
present himself before the Local <strong>Church</strong><br />
Administrative Council for examination to<br />
determine any factor that would limit his<br />
influence or reflect on his character. He will<br />
have proven himself to be faithful to the<br />
biblical passages of 1 Timothy 3:1-13 and<br />
Titus 1:6-9 for a period of two (2) years<br />
following his divorce.<br />
(3) A person holding the office of deacon or<br />
elder or otherwise serving on the Local<br />
<strong>Church</strong> Administrative Council who<br />
divorces his spouse and remarries under<br />
