Between Blankenburg and Halberstadt,<br />
these cave flats can be found, which<br />
have probably been constructed in the<br />
12 th century within the soft sandstone.<br />
People lived here until the beginning of<br />
the 20 th century.<br />

7. “Baumkuchen” factory<br />
Friedrich, Wernigerode<br />
Wernigerode is famous for its<br />
“Baumkuchen”, which is a sweet cake<br />
baked on a stick and consisting of<br />
several layers. Watch the show baking<br />
and try fresh and warm “Baumkuchen”<br />
with different coatings and tastes.<br />
