WELCOME
Dear colleagues
It is a great pleasure for us to welcome you to our 4th international
convention on shoulder arthroplasty, the second one taking place
in Munich after the year 2011.
As before, we were able to invite international notable experts
in the field of shoulder joint replacement to give lectures about
the current concepts of their specialties and to discuss the recent
innovations.
There are a lot of good news in shoulder arthroplasty. The first
multicenter studies about anatomic prostheses have reached a
follow-up of more than 10 years, and the results concerning survival
and clinical outcomes are encouraging. In the meantime even the
stemless implants have been proven of value with the consequence
that several companies have launched their new developments in
this field. We will discuss the indications and limits of those new
implants intensively.
Furthermore the teething troubles of reversed arthroplasty have
led to interesting new designs which will be introduced and
demonstrated during the meeting.
Like in the past we will meet for cadaver labs on Thursday afternoon
where every surgeon – the beginner and the experienced – will be
able to practice standard approaches and extensive implantations
of several kinds of shoulder arthroplasties.
Friday and Saturday are scheduled for scientific lectures accompanied
by early morning live preparations, cadaver workshops,
lunch workshops and dry-labs organised by the companies.
Additionally we will also find time to join in for a folkloristic get
together in Munich – maybe a few participants even plan to stay for
a skiing weekend in the Alps around the Bavarian capital.
We are looking forward to meeting you at MAC 2013!
Prof. Dr. med. Markus Loew
Prof. Dr. med. habil Peter Habermeyer
Advice: The special rates we offer you have been negotiated one year in
advance to enable an early booking. There might be the possibility that
some hotels will offer better rates than the rates above. This could occur
because of returned capacities or unsold rooms and cannot be influenced
by us. Quantity buyers such as airlines, travel agencies or online companies
probably have good rates as well, so please compare the prices.
