CELEBRATING OUR 2008–09 SEASON!
A Message from the Executive Director
Dear friends and colleagues:
Once again it is my pleasure to forward our annual newsletter describing our activities
during this past season, and what a season it was! Performances of the classic rock musical
Smokey Joe’a Café thrilled over 20,000 children throughout the metropolitan area, while
7,500 more participated in their own musical productions supervised by the Inside Broadway
Teaching Artist teams. For a grand finale to our season we presented our annual Broadway
Beacon Awards at The Players Club and honored the glamorous Tony Award winning
actress Laura Benanti, her husband actor Steven Pasquale and rock star and Tony nominee
Constantine Maroulis. We also were pleased to honor and recognize the longstanding service
by a member of our Board of Directors, Alan Momeyer, a Vice President at the Loews
Corporation.
With the arts under extreme pressure during these difficult economic times, we at Inside
Broadway remain committed to bringing outstanding arts and education programs to the school children of our city.
We thank you for your support of our mission. It is greatly appreciated, and now, on to the exciting 27th season of Inside Broadway.
