One of the regular exhibitors at IAA is Volkswagen Commercial
Vehicles – a brand from Volkswagen Group, the largest automotive
manufacturer in Europe. In the Hanover site as from 2013, in
addition to the over 150,000 T5 Transporters and Multivans, an
additional 40,000 Amoraks will come off the conveyor belt every
year. To date the Pickup has only been produced in Pacheco in
Argentina. In future customers in Latin and South America will be
serviced from there and markets in Eastern and Western Europe
as well as Africa will be serviced from Hanover. According to Prof.
Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Volkswagen AG:
“Volkswagen has big growth opportunities worldwide in the light
commercial vehicles segment.” With the start of production in
Hanover, the Amarok has finally arrived in Europe. The Amarok
“Made in Hanover” represents the competitive performance of
the site and will give the success-story of our Volkswagen Pickup
an extra tailwind.”
IAA Commercial Vehicles is also a mandatory diary date for
Continental in Hanover which generated revenues of € 30.5 billion
in 2011. The supplier of braking systems, systems and components
for drives and chassis, instrumentation, infotainment solutions,
vehicle electronics, tyres and technical elastomer products is one
of the largest worldwide automotive suppliers to the automotive
industry. The same applies to the 7th International Suppliers Fair
(IZB) that starts two weeks later in Wolfsburg. For Continental
individual mobility is facing the biggest changes since the invention
of the motor car. Ever denser vehicle and data streams,
shrinking reserves of fossil fuels, internationalisation of logistics
chains alongside growing safety and environmental awareness are
the challenges of the future. Continental aims to meet these challenges
with the key themes of efficiency, security, environment
and information.
From 10th to 12th October 760 exhibitors from 26 different
countries will be presenting their merchandise over 36,000
square metres at the International Suppliers Fair (IZB) under the
motto “Connecting Car Competence”. Thomas Krause, Chairman
of Wolfsburg AG, which organises the trade fair comments, “In
contrast to the IAA, the IZB is a pure trade fair for automotive
suppliers. It focuses on innovations in technologies, materials and
engines and in our experience exhibitors display high-quality presentations
of their products and their competitiveness. The IZB is
therefore the prime show for suppliers in relation to manufacturers.”
The partner countries and also the focus of the framework
programme of this year’s exhibition are Brazil and Argentina. The
patronage for IZB 2012 has been undertaken by David McAllister,
Minister-President of the Federal State of Niedersachsen, Dr. Francisco
J. Garcia Sanz, Board Member of Volkswagen AG, and Klaus
