Automotive
The automotive sector is one of the most important industries in Niedersachsen. Volkswagen Group is the world’s third
largest automotive manufacturer and is the largest in Europe. Its head office is based in the second largest German Federal
State by surface area. In addition there are approximately 700 supplier companies. In total the supplier and automotive
sectors employ about 160,000 people in Niedersachsen.
of this in 2010 more than 240,000 visitors came to Hanover and the quality of the IAA
visitors continues to be high. In 2010 the ratio of trade visitors on all days was on average
over 80 percent and three out of every four visitors were decision-makers. These are the
success-criteria of the IAA, therefore for Krone attending the trade fair is an absolute
must. Once again we will have one or two innovations to bring along and also from the
wide field of services and telematics. Another important topic is recuperation, i.e. energy
recovery. We will also be presenting further innovations related to load securing.” Fahrzeugwerk
Bernard Krone GmbH is Europe’s second biggest manufacturer of HGV trailers
and semi-trailers. About 800 employees produced more than 20,000 rolling units at the
Werlte site in the 2010 / 2011 financial year. Current innovations include the Cool Liner
Duoplex Steel VIP insulated trailer which generates energy savings of up to 25 percent
in its construction, and the Krone Profi Liner Eco, a semi-trailer with an aerodynamic
lateral lining, which enables a fuel saving of up to seven percent and significantly reduces
CO 2 emissions.
Walter Bösenberg GmbH in Hanover, a worldwide supplier of highly-specialised
solutions for vehicle fittings and special vehicles, also uses the IAA as an exhibition space.
In the words of Michael Steiner, Managing Director, “IAA Commercial Vehicles is the most
important trade fair for Bösenberg. Through its presentation of state-of-the-art innovations
across all sectors, the IAA is the trend barometer for the next two years and provides
an outlook on future economic developments. In 2012 Bösenberg will be presenting a
mobile, all-terrain water laboratory which transfers all the possibilities of a stationary
laboratory to a mobile environment. This is primarily of interest for the disinfectant sector
but also for the power supply and the safeguarding of a continuous cooling chain for
the samples. In addition an office and control vehicle of the Federal Office for Freight
Transport will be presented in which a new type of power supply system is incorporated
with a methanol-operated fuel cell.”
Electromobility is the subject of the “Specialist Electromobility Congress” which
will take place on 26th September as part of IAA Commercial Vehicles. Questions such as
“Where does Germany stand in the development of these future technologies? What has
been achieved to date? What hurdles are still to be overcome?“ are the central questions
here. About 500 international participants and high-ranking speakers are expected.
