W Wawrzaszek ISS: Modern manufacturing technology Wawrzaszek ISS is displaying new production methods at InnoTrans 2012. One area in which the company has been carrying out development work is that of plastics, where modern manufacturing technologies have an important part to play. For example, the external walls of drivers’ cabs and boxes containing technical equipment are made from monolithic compression mouldings, using the infusion method. This prevents the bonding of elements, improves the strength of the supporting structure and reduces weight. This exhibitor also specialises in the welding of steel, stainless steel and aluminium. The innovative development of a special robot unit enables Wawrzaszek ISS to weld structures that are twice as long as the reach of the robot. This is ideal, for example, for large frames for tram gantries. The exhibitor also makes extensive use of laser technology for cutting, welding and coating purposes. Like the “RockStar® HighPower” 550 A version they are of modular construction. The power contact, designed for loads of up to 250 A, is easy to install and takes up very little space, making it suitable for a number of different vibration-resistant versions. The two-part die-cast Size 8 aluminium housing, with attachment, base and mounting, has a large PE connector. The same applies to the frame into which it fits. The extremely impact- and corrosion-resistant casings have the protection level IP 68 or IP 69k and are easy to assemble. The manufacturer has redesigned the crimp contacts of the “RockStar® HighPower-250-A” to enable them to be removed through the M25 cable input aperture. Multiple, fine and precision copper wires of between 25 and 95 mm² can be easily connected using standard crimping tools. Weidmüller Interface GmbH & Co. W Westermo Teleindustri: Reliable power-over-ethernet networks The power-over-ethernet switches Viper-112-P8 and Viper-212-P8 improve on-board applications on rail vehicles and provide rail passengers with higher levels of comfort. They ensure efficient load distribution and handle tasks for which an entire control cabinet would otherwise be required. TheViper-212-P8 is also routable, providing for the connection of sub-networks and improved overall performance of the network. In addition to the four standard ethernet ports the two managed switches also have eight PoE ports to ensure an ideal voltage supply for video equipment, LCD monitors and WLAN access points. Via the PoE slots the Viper switches supply up to 66 watts or a maximum of 30 watts to a port. The rail switches isolate the DC input voltage of connected devices and are thus protected against overvoltages. With IP65 protection and resistance to vibration that complies with military standards these devices are unaffected by mechanical stresses, damp, condensation and dirt. Schmid: Compact RGB-LED illuminated push button With its LDT25 model on show at InnoTrans 2012 W. Schmid AG has developed a compact illuminated push button, with an LED that illuminates the entire contact area. The push buttons are available in a number of different designs: with Faston connections for cable lugs or with a cable connection, also in customized lengths or with a custom connection, if required. The LDT25 is splashproof and has been designed for a long working life. The contact area is available as a neutral white surface or in the same colour as the light. If required these buttons can be supplied with the customer’s own pictogram or symbol, which can be applied by laser engraving or screen printing. The buttons are available in a single colour, either red, yellow, green, orange, white or blue, or in a multi-colour version in the combinations red-green or red-green-blue, the latter offering a wide range of illuminated colours.
