R RPM Group: High performance compression device for continuous operation PMA-1M from the RPM Group is an automated high performance compression device, designed for continuous operation, for the cyclical compression of two sleepers while the rail track is being simultaneously and continuously raised. It has been designed for straightening sections of track while repair work is in progress. This machine can displace a section of track by up to 450 millimetres, which is significantly more than can be achieved by other manufacturers’ machinery, the exhibitor emphasises. A comparison reveals that, in terms of precision and performance, the PMA-1M is among the best on the market anywhere in the world, and this would be confirmed by tests and by the practical experience gained with this technology. The system is equipped with some exceptional sliding and compression components which are digitally controlled. The use of new rail sensors which have been developed in-house prevents any interruption when the lifting and coating units encounter rail joints. With its new CAT 5e and CAT 6 ethernet cables the exhibitor has expanded its product portfolio for rail vehicle technology to include additional cables for use on the railways. “SABIX R 660 CAT 5e 2x2x22 AWG” and “SABIX R 691 CAT 6 4x2x26 AWG” satisfy the fire safety standard DIN 5510. Following tests to determine their resistance to conducting fire, smoke gas density and toxicity, the company has now expanded its range to include ethernet cables for railway use that have been granted certification by an external agency. Ethernet and/or gigabit ethernet networks in rail vehicles are just some of the applications for these new types. This applies in particular to the installation of passenger information systems, monitoring equipment and e-ticketing systems. Moreover, according to the manufacturer, the SABIX Rail range of cables meets the highest fire safety standards. SAB Bröckskes GmbH & Co. S Sammode Lichttechnik: Rugged lighting tubes for use in inspection pits and for process lighting The NIEPCE 70 FV lighting tube from Sammode is ideal for use in inspection pits where space is limited. The housing is made of co-extruded polycarbonate/methacrylate, combining the mechanical robustness of polycarbonate with the resistance of methacrylate to grease and oil. These lights also incorporate a new optical design, directly lighting underneath the cars and indirectly lighting the floor without dazzling. Together with the materials used, the system for sealing the lights ensures compliance with IP68. Sammode has designed the KELVIN 100 MO HT for process lighting and exposure to high temperatures. Equipped with a compact fluorescent tube, it is available in three lengths: 357, 436 and 519 millimetres. It combines a high light output and compact dimensions. Its new coextruded housing made of polycarbonate/methacrylate makes it resistant to various cleaning agents and hydrocarbons such as cutting oil and lubricants. It is used as an interface connector for the reliable transmission of data in flexible links between carriages and locomotives. It has been designed to meet very high specifications, for example for video monitoring, passenger information systems, automatic passenger counting systems, voice control and diagnostic functions. The new UIC558 IT series is equipped with an eight pin ethernet module and 16 24-volt signal contacts. The Ethernet module permits transmission rates of up to ten gigabits. This enables it to satisfy the requirements of Cat5, Cat6 and 6a, which are suitable for frequencies of up to 250 MHz and are used for voice and data transmission. Depending on the specific requirements and the areas in which it is deployed, a number of different connecting cables suitable for railway use are available. The new UIC558 IT series has been successfully used in a railway pilot project for over one and half years and complies with all the relevant railway standards.
