R railtracon: Multilingual software for planning and maintenance MARS Railbusiness is new kind of software solution for fleet management. Industry software has been adapted to meet railway standards and is a useful aid in planning and carrying out maintenance work. The simplified input procedure automatically registers all the main information about performance processes and consumption of materials. MARS Railbusiness also monitors and documents all measuring and testing equipment, lifting gear and employee qualification requirements. The software can automatically transmit paperless analyses of all the recorded data online to management and the relevant departments, as well as storing details about ongoing maintenance and security requirements. At InnoTrans 2012 railcon is demonstrating all its possible applications for maintenance with or without the use of barcodes or RFID technology for freight wagons, locomotives and infrastructure. It enables companies to obtain a constant overview of the position of trains throughout the network, including tunnels, for the purposes of train control, passenger information, traffic management or other location-dependent applications. The system is particularly useful if GPS is not available or when extreme precision is required on individual sections of track. VTPS uses a forward-facing CCTV, which is installed in the driver’s cab. The position of the train is determined through real time image processing of the video stream. The VTPS technology is embedded in the Zume-X range of forward-facing CCTV cameras, which have been developed by RDS specifically for the rail market. With dual image sensors that have been designed for day and night use Zume-X provides outstanding performance, especially at night or in tunnels. R REHAU: Customised railway power supply solutions With increasing traffic density in large cities and conurbations, modern local public transport is of growing importance. For many years the polymer specialist REHAU has been tackling the issue of railway power supply by means of a third rail and has been able to use the latest developments and material qualities in the area of live-rail supports as well as live-rail protection all over the world. For tunnels or outdoor area alike, the company’s own systems for underground railways and light rail networks are the ideal solution even under difficult climatic conditions. Following intensive research and development work the family-owned company is now able to offer its customers a complete, innovative system from a single source. As well as the various live-rail supports, cover systems and retaining components, the tried and tested aluminium live-rail is now also available from this exhibitor. The advantages: a wide range of customised systems. The fully calibrated system registers up to 1.1 million points per second in a 360 degree radius in the laser category 1, which is not harmful to the eyes. The precise, geo-referenced 3D points cloud produced by the measurements also includes objects in the surrounding area with a small spatial extent as well as those with a low reflectivity such as rails, overhead power lines, platforms, signals and buildings. The integrated camera system provides calibrated, high definition photos with a precise time stamp. The accompanying RIEGL software ensures simple and efficient data capture and processing and provides a direct interface to 3D evaluation software, such as SiRailScan from technet-rail. SiRailScan is a comprehensive software for evaluating laser scanning data. Railways are one of its main applications, and consequently an extensive range of evaluation functions for actual geometry is available.
