R RailData: Using scheduled trains to obtain measurements Complete, accurate and more economical track geometry measurements can be achieved with RILA. The system measures, calculates and displays track geometry information in absolute x, y and z coordinates. RILA hardware uses trains operating on regular schedules, eliminating the need for separate trains to conduct measurements. The processed track data is independent of the type of train used. During a scheduled stop at a station the RILA hardware can be attached to the train by two people in less than two minutes. The system functionalities enable a large rail network to be surveyed without having to occupy the track. RILA can be used to generate various kinds of data. It can be used for aspects such as track safety/track security, track quality, track surveying and track alignment as well as for the response and comfort provided by rail vehicles. This new measuring system has been developed and refined over the past three years in the Netherlands. RailData B.V., NL-Utrecht Hall 26, Booth 417b Wim Hoogstra +31 (0)6-52650452 wim.hoogstra@raildata.nl www.raildata.nl RILA RAIL.ONE: Slab track with protection against noise and vibration RAIL.ONE, together with RockDelta, has developed a method of reducing the amount of vibration produced by passing trains based on proven RHEDA technology with double block sleepers. The new RHEDA RX system involves the installation of RockXolid anti-vibration mats under the track ballast. This effectively reduces vibration in the underlying system and eliminates any problematical resonance. RHEDA RX can be adapted to meet the requirements of individual projects. In addition RAIL.ONE GmbH, in collaboration with the Witten plant of DB Netz AG that manufactures points, has developed a solution for achieving logistical improvements during the transport and installation of pre-assembled points. The basic idea is that the over three metre long concrete sleepers are fitted with flexurally resistant coupling joints, enabling the overhanging part of the sleeper to be folded over during transport. In this way pre-assembled sleeper units with lengths of up to 4.8 metres can be transported on standard flat railway wagons.
