PROSE Berlin: Measuring wheelset systems that are easy to use
The prototype of its newly developed measuring wheelset computer
is being shown for the first time by PROSE Berlin GmbH at InnoTrans
2012. It enables the signals from measuring wheelsets to
be evaluated in order to determine the wheel-rail forces. Startup
and operation of these systems is considerably simplified by
means of the computer, bringing
the objective of a “sensor like any
other” much closer, the developers
emphasise. With data transfer via
the latest EtherCAT bus the modular
system permits distributed instrumentation
along the length
of a train, with the possibility for
expansion to up to 16 measuring
wheelsets per system. With browser-based
controls and automatic
system and network configuration the measuring wheelset system
is easier to operate than ever before, according to the exhibitor, and
means that this technology can be used without the need for specialist
knowledge. The system is compatible with the measuring wheelsets
from DB Systemtechnik, UB-Datentechnik and PROSE.

Measuring wheelset system

Robust M12 ethernet crimp cable plugs
A simple, fault-free connection in the field and reliable data transmission
are especially important for M12-based PROFINET and industrial
ethernet applications in railway engineering. The new M12
crimp cable plug from Provertha with IP67 protection meets these
requirements and offers secure, screened contact by means of a 360
degree EMI/RFI crimped flange system and solid, twisted crimp contacts.
This arrangement ensures rapid and fault-free PROFINET/ industrial
ethernet connections and highly effective contacts. Together
with a prefabricated cable the contact clip is fed into the insulating
body of the plug connection. This is a particular effective solution
for applications where space is limited. The fully screened, all-metal
housing and the special crimped flange system ensure effective
360 degree EMI/RFI screening and error-free data transmission. The
waterproof housing also guarantees protection in accordance with
IP67 and creates a very rugged unit that is resistant to potential damage
from extreme environments.
