Powerlines Group:
Eco-friendly third rail system
Precision and environmental friendliness are among the main characteristics
of the new third rail systems from the Powerlines Group.
The aluminium live rail has very good running properties and improves
the technical performance of the installations. Moreover all
the component used are fully recyclable. In accordance with customers’
specific requirements this group of companies also manufactures
high quality plastic components, including individual
protective covers and live rail insulators. Planning, development,
supply, assembly, start-up and maintenance of third rail installations
all come from a single source. The exhibitor points out that there
is effective integration of all stages, ensuring an outstanding, long
lasting live rail system. In the Local Transport Division this internationally
active group of companies, with its Third Rail Center of
Competence, provides a modern, safe and economical system that
ensures a reliable power supply for public transport.
Power-One: Efficient DC-DC converter
The display by Power-One at InnoTrans 2012 includes what it
claims is the first DC-DC converter with an input voltage range in
excess of 10:1, an output voltage of up to 280 watts, at an ambient
temperature of 70 degrees Celsius, and with an impressive average
efficiency of 94 per cent throughout the entire load range.
This remarkable reduction in losses enables it to be run at a substantially
lower operating temperature and with much greater reliability.
A single power connection provides all the rated battery
voltages from 24 to 120 volts. The fixed input voltage range is between
15.4 and 150 volts, with dynamic deviations of 12 and 168
volts for two seconds in each case. The HR series conforms to
most national and international railway and safety standards and
is provided with a robust and secure case for installation on a 19
inch frame or in a housing, making this range ideal for use in extreme,
air-cooled environments.
