OTN Systems:
Communication network for railway applications
OTN Systems is presenting the new XTRAN product line at InnoTrans
2012. This is the first railway-grade communications network based
on MPLS-TP technology (Multi Protocol Label Switching-Transport
Profile). XTRAN is a compact modular node family which can be installed
on DIN rails and can interconnect all railway applications,
including those that are operation-critical, via over fibre optic and
copper cabling. It allows the creation of reliable, multi-functional
backbone networks in various topologies. The standard technology
employed enables the problem-free replacement of existing or outdated
networks, providing the same or better specifications in terms
of protection and predictability, as well as the ability to handle the
increasing amount of packet switched traffic generated by modern
devices for signalling, trackside applications and operational communications.
The XTRAN network is centrally managed.

Otto Christ: Perfect cleaning results whatever
the contours of the train
The display by Otto Christ AG at InnoTrans 2012 provides details about
its newest outdoor rail vehicle cleaning installations and concepts
and the outstanding exhibit is the Opti 3D. This new system uses a
single brush to wash the front, back, roof and door areas of rolling
stock. As its name suggests, this product is ideal for every type of
train contour. Like the exhibitor’s existing horizontal brush the height
of the Opti 3D can be adjusted to swivel horizontally from its starting
position of zero degrees to as much as 135 degrees. It can also be
inclined from a horizontal angle of zero degrees to a vertical angle
of approximately 80 degrees. As a result this roller brush can reach
every part of the front and rear of vehicles, whether they are pointed
or rounded, as well as sloping roofs. A separate roller was previously
needed to perform these tasks. The machinery therefore
does not need to be so high, enabling a greater length to be cleaned
while using less space.
