Coolant compressor with 30 per cent weight reduction
As part of its efforts to maintain a competitive edge Dorin has developed
its semi-hermetic coolant compressor with an eye on the characteristic
properties of new coolants and the market requirements for
improved efficiency and reduced noise. Its HAL products are primarily
intended for use in the transport sector and with their four cylinder
compressors they are based on the H35 and H41 product ranges.
As part of a concerted effort to reduce weight the heads, crankcase
and casings are made of aluminium. The HAL range offers a stroke
volume of 19.29 to 63.76 m³/h and a rated output of between 4.5 and 22
hp. The main characteristics of the new Dorin compressors include a
30 per cent weight reduction, variable speed output and a wide frequency
range, significantly reduced vibration, achieved by improved
compensation of the flywheel mass, and a high performance coefficient,
as a result of fluid-dynamic optimisation of the internal flow
paths, highly efficient motors and high-tech components.
Automatic detection of defects
Building on the success of its Visual Inspection products Omni-
Vision ® , a registered trademark of Omnicom Engineering Limited,
takes its basic visual inspection to the next technological level. OmniVision®
enables automatic detection of certain types of defects
and can therefore be used to improve the quality and reliability of
inspections. Its benefits include improved safety management by
reducing the frequency of direct track inspections, a digital record
of existing track infrastructure, and the qualitative and auditable
assessment of the infrastructure. It is also possible to build up a
comprehensive knowledge database of track defects and their
location, and to improve management information about the status
and condition of the infrastructure network. In the inspection
process several high speed linescan cameras can capture data
at speeds in excess of 160 km/h and thermal cameras are used to
record the temperature of the rails.
