NextSense measurement and testing systems:
Contactless measurement of profiles in confined spaces
NextSense Mess- und Prüfsysteme GmbH manufactures contactless
systems for measuring profiles in the railway and automotive sectors
and is using InnoTrans 2012 to introduce its easy-to-use measuring
device for use in confined spaces. These include a small sensor for
the Calipri measuring device, which has been on the market for some
considerable time already.. The new, smaller Calipri sensor is the first
easy-to-use system for measuring the wear on the wheel profiles of
low-floor vehicles. To carry out a measurement the user holds the sensor,
moving it over the wheel profile. The intelligent image processing
system continuously records small sections of the item being measured,
and combines them. Patents have been applied for a system
which has been developed to eliminate the need to maintain the sensor
at a precise distance and angle. With its so-called tilt corrector
and its contactless operation the Calipri is much more reliable than
conventional scanning methods, and its readings can be reproduced
more effectively too.

Norgren: Innovative compressed air dryer
and mechanical pressure switch
Norgren, a well-known supplier of pneumatic motion and fluid control
technology, is using InnoTrans 2012 to present some newly developed
technology for the rail sector for the first time. Among this exhibitor’s
highlights are an innovative compressed air dryer, a freeze protection
valve, a mechanical pressure switch a minimum pressure valve and
an electric contactor solenoid valve. The Norgren air dryer is based
on AMT (adsorbent media tube) technology and offers an average
service-free life of six years as well as improved drying performance.
The freeze protection valve protects on-board water systems from
frost damage and has been designed specifically for extreme environments
in order to reduce service intervals, thereby cutting costs.
Norgren is presenting its curved door actuator for the first time in Europe
at this trade show. The display also features a successful high
flow precision pantograph regulator that performs very effectively
even under extreme conditions.
