M Martek Power: On-board PCI power adapter for railway applications The Powertron ® -CPCIR series of DC/DC converters is being displayed by Martek Power for the first time at InnoTrans 2012. With a maximum output of 100 watts this series has been specially designed to comply with EN50155. This is of particular interest to those customers needing to supply power to on-board computer applications. The standard three-way output power adapters have an input of 72/110 and 24/36 VDC and provide outputs of 5.1, 3.3 and 12 volts. In accordance with the standard cPCI profile these are convectioncooled units that can be operated for ten minutes at between -40 and +70 degrees Celsius at up to +85 degrees Celsius without cutting out (EN50155 temperature category TX). Their main features are their high efficiency levels and a back-up time of ten milliseconds for the rated voltage. With a height of three U an evenly coated circuit board and EMC-screen front panel and ejector are standard features of the CPCIR series. Its horizontal movement is fully automatic and it is provided with a built-in position sensor to enable it to be easily adjusted to the necessary limit stops without external intervention. The SF1 can automatically determine the gap between the rail vehicle and the platform. It is set into the floor and is very compact, with a height of just 90 mil- limetres, which also enables it to be used with retractable doors. The maximum extension is 500 and the standard width is 1,300 millimetres. However, the width can be adapted to meet specific customer requirements. The safety systems include a sensitive leading edge and a non-slip surface. The system can be operated manually in an emergency and can also be reset. Power is transmitted via a ball screw, making the system very reliable and robust. M Mechan: Control system for lifting devices This British specialist for depot maintenance equipment, Mechan, is presenting its new Micro-Link control system for lifting jacks at this year’s InnoTrans. Based in Sheffield, this manufacturer has designed a new control system that provides an ideal solution, both technically and commercially, for the synchronised lifting of a wide range of rail vehicles. The latest advances have enabled Mechan to install the largest individual system of lifting jacks in the UK at the Alstom transport and train maintenance centre near Manchester. Custom software enables up to 44 lifting jacks to be operated simultaneously without any compromises in flexibility. Mechan has earned a reputation for such equipment. The lifting jacks can be linked together and operated from any point using a single cable. The new touch-screen panel provides continuous feedback during the maintenance process. With a system for the rapid installation and removal of the snow-clearing unit this dualpurpose Unimog can also be converted very quickly for clearing snow from level crossings or industrial roadways. The snow clearance unit is powered by a mechanical, front-mounted power take-off which can be factory-installed. Another world first on the Mercedes-Benz stand at InnoTrans is the tramrail cleaning vehicle. With its newly developed rail guidance system even the Unimog with 3,600 millimetre wheelbase and larger body can manage much tighter curves.
