La Farga Lacambra: Wear-resistant copper wire
EVELEC is a special copper wire made by La Farga Lacambra using
micro-alloys. These improve wear resistance by between 30 and 50
per cent compared with the standard products used on conventional
rail routes. In addition to reducing wear and tear on installations
they also offer the benefits of superior mechanical performance
and very good electrical conductivity. Furthermore EVELEC offers
a much higher annealing temperature than ETP copper and, depending
on the micro-alloy, superior temperature characteristics to
CuAg 0.1. This produces outstanding thermal stability, reduced distortion
and increased durability. In a comparison with copper-silver
it is clear that EVELEC is ideally suited for use on high speed
lines, according to the exhibitor. EVELEC contains 99.93 copper.
Consequently the conductivity of the wire is not significantly affected
and in fact its mechanical properties are substantially improved.
LEM Deutschland: Component suite with on-board energy
meter function
The latest EM4TII energy meter from LEM is based on the 0.5R ITC
class which, in addition to the 4,000 ampere version, is now available
for the 1,000 and 2,000 ampere range, and on the DV current converter.
The manufacturer reports that this is currently the only suite of
components with an on-board energy meter function for DC and AC
rail networks that is fully compatible with prEN50463. LEM products
can help to accurately meet the demand for new functions such as
the on-board monitoring of current consumption. At InnoTrans 2012
this exhibitor is demonstrating to rail industry engineers whose work
involves rail vehicles as well as sub-stations that a new, versatile
energy conserving solution can cut consumption by 30 per cent. It
can be deployed for measuring network voltages as well as for the
main converter-DC connection on board trains. Through the integration
of tried and tested, patented insulation technology from LEM this
voltage converter can offer flexible mechanical properties and a high
level of performance.
