JSC UPEC: Energy-efficient wheelset bearings
and switchable air conditioning system
Among the outstanding characteristics of the new, energy-efficient
CRU DUPLEX HARP and TBU 1520 HARP wheelset bearings are the
mathematical modelling and the optimised design to meet specific
operating conditions on 1,520 mm gauge track. As a result the life
of the axle housing is extended and the influence on wheel wear
and chassis stability is improved. The KLÜBERPLEX HARP lubricating
grease, developed in collaboration with Klüber, offers a special
combination of hard-wearing properties and low temperature resistance
as well as good hydrodynamic characteristics. The products
have been developed in collaboration with VNIIZHT, Russia. Also
making its debut at InnoTrans 2012 is an unusual, 100-per cent ecological
and highly efficient, switchable, circulating air conditioning
system from the UPEC Group for installation in passenger carriages.
In winter one and the same unit can provide heating of up to 60 degrees
Celsius, air conditioning in the summer, and ventilation during
the intervening periods.
JUMO: Halogen-free wheelset temperature sensor
An improved wheelset temperature sensor using halogen-free materials
and certificated in compliance with such railway standards
as IEC/EN 61 373, Cat. 3 is one of the innovations being displayed by
JUMO at InnoTrans 2012. An application for a European patent has
also been made for the corrugated tube that provides a more effective
seal on the sensor head. Another of the highlights of the display
is the AMTHFs series of thermostats, backed up by many years of
use, with up to four switch contacts, and available with or without a
housing. The thermostats have many different applications, for example,
for monitoring and regulating extinguishing water tanks and
the cooling of power transformers. The JUMO MIDAS S19 R pressure
transducer has also been developed specially for use in rail
vehicles and has been tested to comply with railway standards. It
is suitable for a variety of applications such as monitoring the pressure
in compressors and in braking systems.
