Erlau: Make-over for wire grid benches
As one of the largest manufacturers of seats for platforms and waiting
rooms Erlau AG has signed contracts to supply its products to
the national railway systems in Germany and Austria. Passengers
awaiting their trains can now use the restyled wire grid benches.
The seats for Deutsche Bahn make use of a design entitled remissio,
which has four millimetre diameter wire on the inside. This enhances
stability and provides more comfort too. DB seating from
Erlau is offered in three- or six-seater versions. The new remissio
design is also available in wood. The free-standing benches can
be supplied in mobile form for prefabricated platforms or can be
fixed in concrete. Grid size 22 offers protection against the wind
or as a shelter against rain. The special polyamide-rilsan coating
makes Erlau benches extremely weather-resistant. They also require
no maintenance.
Euro-Shelter:
Honeycomb bond panels for rail vehicles
Euro-Shelter has developed new applications in the rail vehicle sector
for its honeycomb bond panels. This technology, which was originally
developed for use in aircraft, also has many applications in
the military field. The aluminium honeycomb panels can be manufactured
in very large dimensions and can be directly soldered onto
aluminium profiles. They are simple to construct and offer excellent
stability and resistance, combined with very low weight. Moreover
this technology enables new shapes to be created and facilitates the
use of smoother fabrics. The aluminium panels can be used for the
structure as well as for the side walls, roof, floor or interior equipment
as well as for ventilation and air conditioning ducts. Euro-Shelter
commissioned MBD Design to produce a full scale model utilising
all the possible applications for these panels in rail vehicles. The
model produced by these two companies can be seen on the Euro-
Shelter stand at InnoTrans.
