E ebm-papst Mulfingen: Energy-efficient 110 volt DC ventilators The energy-efficient RadiCal 100 volt DC ventilators are designed for railway engineering applications and are being presented at InnoTrans 2012 by ebm-papst. The newly developed plastic impeller is manufactured as a single unit and uses a flow passage that replicates those found in the natural world. It is very efficient and mechanically robust. The new ventilators are based on the RadiCal in GreenTech EC technology and offer a number of advantages: a high degree of efficiency, quiet running, infinitely variable rotation speed and exceptional compactness. The improved heat management system for the motor ensures improved efficiency and a high level of IP protection too. In addition to their efficiency and acoustic properties another advantage of these ventilators is that they can be easily and quickly installed. This makes them the ideal solution for customers’ systems. RadiCal impellers are available in diameters ranging from 190 to 355 millimetres. ebm-papst Mulfingen GmbH & Co. This exhibitor, from Berlin, points out that this is now only possible with the use of expensive scheduling software, which in many cases only establishes and shows whether a track is occupied or not. Munder’s track observation system provides an economic solution to this problem, enabling the track to be precisely monitored and to make more efficient use of the available track. The system consists of three components: wheel sensors, transmission unit and central evaluation software. The wheel sensors register the axles as they pass a defined point. The transmission unit evaluates the direction and speed, while the software determines the type of vehicle, number of vehicles and how long they are at any one place. E ELPA: Noise insulation system for rail brakes in freightyards The Slovenian exhibitor ELPA is presenting a new development for the first time at InnoTrans 2012, consisting of its patented noise insulation system BREMEX-ANNSYS for rail brakes in freightyards with sidings. In such areas braking produces high frequency noise, in some cases exceeding 130 decibels. This new development by ELPA, which incorporates WONROSTM technology, significantly reduces these unpleasant screeching noises. The exhibitor points out that this has previously been a worldwide problem for which no solution could be found. The synergy between ELPA and Deutsche Bahn in the course of a pilot project to reduce noise levels at the Nuremberg freightyard has produced some significant results, with the noise being almost entirely eliminated at source. According to a report by the board of DB Netz the results were very successful and far exceeded expectations. The benefits are also being felt by residents living around the Nuremberg shunting yards. The CC5A30INS and CC5A30 both have 157 strands and are suitable for use in substation risers to connect the grounding grid to substation equipment and structures. The insulated CC5A30INS can be used on power and grounding connections to rail tracks The seven-stranded CC5A04 and nineteen-stranded CC5A05 are electrical equivalents to 16 mm² cable and are ideal for transmission tower, distribution pole and street-, bridge- or platform-light grounding. The CC5A04 and CC5A05 have the same outside cable diameter and are compatible with connectors and cable lugs designed for use with 42 mm2 copper cable. The CC5A30 and the cable core of the CC5A30INS have the same outside diameter as 250 kcmil (equivalent to 120 mm2) copper cable and are compatible with connectors and cable lugs designed for use with 250 kcmil/120 mm2 copper cable.
