Concrete Canvas: concrete on a roll
Concrete Canvas (CC) is a flexible, synthetic, woven fabric impregnated
with a cement mixture and sewn onto a PVC base. When water
is added it forms a thin, very robust, waterproof and fire-resistant
concrete surface. It can basically be described as concrete on
a roll, and permits applications without the need for the usual machines
such as mixers and pumps. CC is simply placed in position,
water is added, and the job is done. This material has been commercially
available since 2009 and the manufacturers claim that it is an
economical alternative to standard concrete. It is being shown for
the first time in Germany at InnoTrans 2012. Concrete Canvas is ecofriendly
and in widescale use for the protection of embankments, in
trench construction and to protect the ground around tank installations.
Processing it is ten times faster than with prefabricated concrete
components or in-situ concrete, with cost savings of up to 60
per cent. Because CC only absorbs as much water as is needed, it
can also be worked during bad weather or under water.
CONRAC: Public display range with the latest Edge
LED panels
The new Public Display range from CONRAC takes as its basis the latest
Edge LED panels. The main features are the reduced power consumption
of the new displays and a new IP protection concept. The
IP54-protected display unit, preventing the ingress of dust or moisture,
and the electronics box housing the electronic controls and the power
supply, are designed as separate units. The electronics box has
a special plug-in connection linking it to the display unit. This facilitates
the rapid and simple replacement of the display electronics, which
are available in a number of different configurations. This combines
all advantages of a fully integrated concept with the simplified maintenance
and flexibility of an external solution. The aluminium frame
and front panel made of safety glass ensure that these displays are
ideal for installation in public areas. The first models in this new series
will be provided with screen diagonals of 42 and 55 inches, to be
followed by a 46 inch version.
