ALSTOM Transport:
Vehicle platform for three-axle shunting locomotives
The H3 vehicle platform from ALSTOM is a more compact, new generation
of three-axle shunting locomotives. In addition to a version
with hybrid technology for shunting operations a twin generator version
for use on longer routes is also available, as well as a powerful
1,000 kilowatt single motor version for medium-distance
routes. The distinctive features of this platform
are its three axles, a speed in excess of 100
km/h, a 60 meter curve radius and start-up tractive
force of 240 kilonewtons. In a combined fleet
these vehicles can be used without any problems
in dual traction. The hybrid locomotive achieves a
maximum output of 700 kilowatts with a 350 kilowatt
diesel generator, the additional output coming from
large batteries which are recharged by the generator
in phases with a reduced load. When operating
on battery power the locomotive does not produce any exhaust emissions
and both noise levels and vibration are kept to a minimum. According
to the manufacturer this is a unique feature and helps to protect
personnel when operating in tunnels or close to buildings.
Extremely flat design
For the first time the „OmniPlanar TOP 230 AMR“ series of train radio
antennas combine the technique of analogue antenna 2m band radio
systems and digital communication systems, for example for Tetra
/ GSM / UMTS / GPS / WLAN. This allows shared use of different
radio systems on a single antenna with an extremely slim design and
an antenna height of just 140mm. According to the manufacturer this
provides one of the flattest 2m band antennas on the public transport
market. Based on the selective coupling of the respective frequency
range through high quality connectors of the N-type series, the costintensive
splitters normally required for broadband antennas used on
railways can be dispensed with. This selective coupling improves the
effectiveness of the individual bands compared with conventional multiband
broadband concepts with only a single connection. A super-flat
2m band antenna with a design height of only 60mm is being introduced
at InnoTrans 2012.
