<strong>The</strong> Library’s current awareness weblog has<br />

now been running for three years.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re are 14,000 posts on <strong>the</strong> website<br />

and 900 subject categories<br />

<strong>The</strong> average number <strong>of</strong> daily visits is<br />

900-1000<br />

<strong>The</strong>re are 843 subscribers via email<br />

or RSS feed<br />

A recent survey <strong>of</strong> users revealed a high level<br />

<strong>of</strong> satisfaction with <strong>the</strong> service and sources<br />

covered, and a wide range <strong>of</strong> subscribers<br />

including barristers, students, academics,<br />

solicitors, civil servants and librarians. <strong>The</strong><br />

majority <strong>of</strong> subscribers are UK-based but<br />

o<strong>the</strong>rs are fur<strong>the</strong>r afield, in Australia,<br />

Barbados, Canada, India and New Zealand.<br />

<strong>The</strong> blog is maintained by Library staff and <strong>the</strong><br />

survey results and comments reinforce our<br />

view that this is a worthwhile service to<br />

provide to our members and to <strong>the</strong> wider<br />

legal community.<br />

changes in legislation in England and Wales<br />

n It is a free service which is updated daily<br />

n Sources covered include national<br />

newspapers, BBC News, Weekly Law<br />

Reports daily summaries, cases from<br />

BAILII, new Acts and SIs from OPSI, and<br />

government department press releases<br />

n <strong>The</strong>re is an archive back to 2007<br />

n Each post has a subject heading attached to<br />

enable legal developments to be traced as<br />

<strong>the</strong>y happen<br />

n Users can subscribe via RSS or email; view<br />

<strong>the</strong> website; or follow <strong>the</strong> blog on Twitter<br />

<strong>The</strong> weblog can be used for keeping up to date<br />

with legal news, preparing for examinations or<br />

pupillage interviews or finding recent law<br />

reports and <strong>of</strong>ficial publications.<br />
