Integrated management system has several advantages. Do you know

One of the frequent inquiries we hear is: what are the certified management systems for and
what are their benefits? The following list answers the question though not completely:

What is integrated management system (IMS)?
It is a system consisting of responsibilities, processes and procedures necessary for management
of quality, environment, energy and health & safety. It is implemented in all plants and
departments of ArcelorMittal Ostrava and individual subsidiaries.
Assessment of 2013 from H&S perspective:
5 LTIs suffered our employees
11 occupational deceases were registered during the year
22 so many times the injuries were treated by physician
11 050 so many alcohol tests were carried out at Maintenance plant
13 employees were dismissed due to positive narcotic or alcohol tests
5 this plant registered the most accidents (a total of 2)

This year our tubular plant marks 65th anniversary
This fall ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Ostrava it will be 65 year since the company
rolled out its first seamless tube.
Skating together
This winter has been a bit scarce on snow. But that does not prevent us from enjoying winter
activities which can be practised without snow.
On Sunday Feb 2, 2014 a Sporting event for employees of ArcelorMittal Tubular Products
Ostrava and their family members will be hosted at winter stadium of SAREZA in Ostrava-Poruba.
Visitors can skate for two hours and cheer up their colleagues in ice hockey match of the Tubular
Hockey Cup.

Our Czech colleague heading for Paralympics in Sochi
The eyes of all sport fans are turning to Sochi where in just a few day’s-time the
world’s biggest sport holiday will break out. During the Paralympic games which will
follow right after the Winter Olympics ArcelorMittal folks can join to cheer up our Czech
colleague Stanislav Loska from ArcelorMittal Ostrava who is to compete in downhill
skiing and super G.
Stanislav Loska is no stranger to winter Paralympics. He made his first appearance back in 1994
in Lillehammer, Norway, where he took bronze medal in slalom. Since, he has never missed out on
this prestigious event. Thus, this year it is going to be his sixth start at the Paralympic games.
To qualify for what he calls his last Paralympics he went through a serious of races in the Alps.
„Last year I took six races and brought home one silver medal, four bronze ones and an eighth
place. As I haven’t competed for two years I am happy with the results,“ comments his
performance Stanislav Loska, refractory lining technician from ArcelorMittal Ostrava.
Ambition – top 15
What goal will he be leaving for Sochi with? As he says the competition at the top is very tough
and since he combines skiing with his every day job at the steel shop he will be happy if he comes
in up to the fifteenth place.
To achieve this goal ArcelorMittal Ostrava provides its athlete with an all-round support. Besides
funding the company gave Stanislav extra five days of vacation which he used on his training in
the Austrian Alps.
“We are happy that we have among our ranks not only highly experienced and skilled workers
but also such talented athletes. We are proud to support Stanislav in his sport ambitions and wish
him best of luck in Sochi,” says CEO of ArcelorMittal Ostrava Tapas Rajderkar.
The latest trophy Stanislav can be proud of is the Best Handicapped Athlete of Ostrava 2014.

ArcelorMittal simplifies organisational structure
ArcelorMittal has reviewed its current segment structure with a view to simplifying the
organisation. As a result, it was decided to regroup according to regions with one single point of
responsibility, while also maintaining the product specialisation within those regions. This will
enable the businesses to continue to have their own dedicated strategy and focus, while capturing

Construction starts on the new Minnesota Vikings stadium using ArcelorMittal steel
Our plant in Differdange, Luxembourg, will supply around 20% (3,000 tonnes) of the steel
required for the construction of the new multi-purpose stadium in St. Paul, Minnesota (US).
Construction kicked off with a groundbreaking ceremony on December 3. 06.12.2013

Best Practice Awards 2013, for the second consecutive year. ArcelorMittal’s website won the

Zenica delivers on US$8m commitment as blast furnace filters begin operations
ArcelorMittal Zenica has reached an important milestone in its ongoing environmental
programme, with the official start of operations on a major new filter system for the blast furnace.
The emissions coming from the blast furnace will be reduced, creating better working conditions

With six major investment projects underway or due to start in 2014, our Ukrainian site is
looking to further strengthen its operational team. Projects include the reconstruction of the coke
oven battery and a blast furnace, as well as the modernisation of two sinter plants. Positions

planners; expert supervisors and contract administrators; mechanical, electrical and automation

Montréal rebar helps oil drilling platform withstand harshest weather conditions
ArcelorMittal Montréal is a major supplier to the ocean oil drilling project offshore Newfoundland
and Labrador, Canada, scheduled to be in full operation in late 2014 / early 2015. The company
secured the full rebar participation of 45,000Mt. The steel being used is casted and rolled at the
ArcelorMittal Montréal - Contrecoeur West complex. 20.11.2013
