Ball Packaging Europe hat auf <strong>de</strong>r<br />
drinktec in München eine Reihe von Neuentwicklungen<br />
vorgestellt, die Getränkedosen<br />
und an<strong>de</strong>ren <strong>Alu</strong>verpackungen<br />
genau <strong>de</strong>n emotionalen Mehrwert verleihen,<br />
<strong>de</strong>r <strong>de</strong>n entschei<strong>de</strong>n<strong>de</strong>n Kaufimpuls<br />
auslösen kann.<br />
Digital Window Printing: 36 verschie<strong>de</strong>ne<br />
Layouts in einem Produktionsdurchlauf – mit<br />
<strong>de</strong>m neuen zweistufigen Digital Window Printing-Druckverfahren<br />
können Getränkehersteller<br />
Dosen mit unterschiedlichen Designs<br />
gestalten. Zunächst wer<strong>de</strong>n herkömmliche<br />
33 cl- und 50 cl-<strong>Alu</strong>miniumdosen hergestellt<br />
und im Standardverfahren bedruckt, wobei ein<br />
„Fenster“ ausgespart bleibt. Anschließend gehen<br />
die Dosen durch die digitale Druckstraße.<br />
Dort erhalten sie individuelle Designs, die exakt<br />
in das freigelassene Fenster passen. Digital<br />
Window Printing ermöglicht so eine individualisierte<br />
Massenanfertigung bei <strong>de</strong>r Dosenbedruckung<br />
und ist daher die logische Antwort<br />
auf <strong>de</strong>n Trend zur Individualisierung.<br />
Mit <strong>de</strong>m Sunlight Effect lassen sich auf <strong>de</strong>r<br />
Dosenwand bestimmte Gestaltungselemente<br />
anbringen, die nur auf <strong>de</strong>n zweiten Blick erkennbar<br />
sind. Denn sie erscheinen erst, wenn<br />
sie ins Sonnenlicht gestellt wer<strong>de</strong>n und UV-<br />
Strahlen auf die Getränkedose fallen. Verschwin<strong>de</strong>t<br />
das UV-Licht, wer<strong>de</strong>n auch die<br />
Bil<strong>de</strong>r o<strong>de</strong>r Textbotschaften wie von Zauberhand<br />
wie<strong>de</strong>r unsichtbar.<br />

Ball Packaging Europe has presented<br />
a number of new <strong>de</strong>velopments at this<br />
year’s drinktec in Munich, providing beverage<br />
cans and other aluminium packaging<br />
with precisely the kind of emotional<br />
value ad<strong>de</strong>d that can trigger that all-important<br />
purchase impulse.<br />
Digital window printing: 36 different layouts<br />
in one production run – the new two-stage<br />
digital window printing process allows beverage<br />
producers to present their cans with a<br />
range of different <strong>de</strong>signs. In the first step,<br />
standard 33 cl or 50 cl aluminium cans are<br />
produced the usual way, just leaving a ‘window’<br />
unprinted. In the second step, the cans<br />
are passed through the digital printing line<br />
where customised <strong>de</strong>signs are ad<strong>de</strong>d to the<br />
can, exactly fitting the window that was previously<br />
left clean. The new technology is i<strong>de</strong>ally<br />
suited for actively engaging customers with<br />
the brand, for example through seasonal promotions<br />
or by submitting photos and <strong>de</strong>signs.<br />
Design elements printed on cans with the<br />
new Sunlight Effect ink <strong>de</strong>veloped by Ball are<br />
not noticeable at first glance. The <strong>de</strong>signs become<br />
visible when UV light strikes the beverage<br />
can. When the UV light disappears, the<br />
images or text vanish – like magic.<br />
Silk & Shine Effect is a new Ball coating<br />
technology that for the first time creates a<br />
powerful contrast by combining the effects of<br />
high gloss and matte printing. Certain areas<br />
and <strong>de</strong>sign elements on the surface of the can<br />
have a special tactile-like effect. By combining<br />
two printing processes Ball creates visual and<br />
haptic effects.<br />
The Neon Effect creates an intense neonyellow<br />
for enhancing can <strong>de</strong>signs. A new ink<br />
pigment produces a striking colour effect<br />
and adds sharp, vibrant contrasts – especially<br />
against a black background. This <strong>de</strong>sign element<br />
is particularly suitable for energy drinks,<br />
because the yellow colour itself is packed with<br />
energy.<br />
The Easy Flow End beverage can features<br />
an additional air vent un<strong>de</strong>r the tab that can<br />
be easily pierced with an object at hand, such<br />
as a key. The second opening guarantees a<br />
smoother flow of the contents especially when<br />
poured and draws attention to the liquid itself.<br />
Up until now, pouring from a can was accompanied<br />
by a ‘glugging’ effect. The tiny air vent<br />
completely eliminates this effect and ensures<br />
smooth pouring which has become a hot topic,<br />
especially in the brewery industry.<br />

a litre (946 ml) and is i<strong>de</strong>al for sharing with<br />
friends at home or at parties.<br />
