Alle Fragen an Achenbach wurden schnell beantwortet und zeugten von einer großen Flexibilität im Projektmanagement. Auf diese Weise konnte das gesamte Projekt in der kürzest möglichen Zeit realisiert werden. This good first impression was confirmed over the next years of the highly productive machinery operation. The market success with first-class 6 µm aluminium foil and the great satisfaction with the Achenbach machinery induced KunShan Aluminium last year to extend their capacity by purchasing another foil rolling mill and a separator. Both, rolling mill and separator, have been delivered, commissioned and accepted right on time. Apart from the chance to use the synergy effects of a comprehensive process optimisation, there were several technical detail solutions regarding the separator. These details convinced the customer to order the Achenbach Optifoil technology: • driven rolls with big diameters at narrow roll distances and ideal strip guiding • shiftable rewinder for a constant material rewinding geometry and a constant winding density even beyond the diameter of the finish rolls • weight-balanced contact / pressure system as well as installation of load bearings into the bearing spots for best winding results • portal design of finish roll removal device for considerably shorter finish roll removal times; a handling system shiftable on floor level can thus be omitted, the upgrade with a pilotless transport system is possible without any problems. • empty spool handling concept, which applies the unwinder very close to the entry roll to facilitate minimum material transport ways • roll changing concept, which allows the quick change of contact, application and backup rolls • all preparations to upgrade the separator with a pinhole detector for quality assurance • highly modern drive technology, here with two motors per winding level for a very extended winding tension range. The new rolling mill is equipped with the latest Optipure media systems and with the entire package of Optiroll i2 automation systems made by Achenbach. Outwardly resembling to the systems of 2007, KunShan Aluminium was very impressed by the model-based controllers which have been implemented in the Optiroll automation systems in the meantime. These are models, which record the current operating condition of the rolling mill and hence calculate online-optimised controller parameters, which result in a considerably improved both, strip flatness and strip thickness tolerances. 30 ALUMINIUM · 11/2013
