I Inkakulturen bemöttes<br />
livselementen jord, vatten,<br />
eld och luft med värdighet<br />
och vördnad. Ur elementen<br />
framkom Tata Inti, Fader<br />
Sol, på jorden represen terad<br />
av kung Manco Capac.<br />
Under honom lydde Curacas,<br />
översteprästerna, som<br />
ansvarade för olika högtidliga<br />
festligheter och ritualer,<br />
där ibland den rituella dansen.<br />
Inka-imperiet vilade på de<br />
fyra väderstrecken: Collasuyo,<br />
sydöst, Contisuyo, sydväst,<br />
Chinchasuyo, nordväst, och<br />
Antisuyo, nordöst om den kejserliga<br />
staden Cuzco. Tillsammans<br />
bildade de fyra väderstrecken och<br />
de fyra elementen den stora nationen<br />
Tahuantisuyo. Den rituella dansen,<br />
som förkroppsligar dessa åtta ingredienser,<br />
återföds och återskapas<br />
ikväll av musiker och dansare, som<br />
ett levande arv från Curaca-prästerna<br />
och Apus, förfädernas röst.<br />
The Inca culture, treated the elements<br />
of earth, water, fire, and air with dignity<br />
and reverence. From the elements came Tata<br />
Inti, Father Sun, represented on earth by king Manco Capac.<br />
Serving him were the Curucas, high priests, who were responsible for<br />
different festivals and rituals, among them ritual dance. The Inca<br />
empire rested on the four points of the compass: Collasuyo, southeast,<br />
Contisuyo, south-west, Chinchasuyo, north-west, and Antisuyo,<br />
north-east of the imperial city of Cuzco. Together, the four cardinal<br />
points and the four elements formed the great nation Tahuantisuyo.<br />
Tonight, a ritual dance, which embodies these eight ingredients, is<br />
re-born and re-created by musicians and dancers, as a living heritage<br />
from the Curaca priests and Apus, the voice of the ancestors.<br />
