Han har framträtt på alla större musikfestivaler i Indien och följer<br />

ett omfattande, världsomspännande turnéschema. Enligt ett citat<br />

ur den indiska tidningen Rajasthan Patrika: ”Efter att ha lyssnat<br />

till Ustad Shahid Parvez är sitarens framtid efter Ravi Shankar<br />

fortfarande ljus.”<br />

Violinisten Atulkumar Upadhye brinner för sitt instrument. Hans<br />

stil, inspirerad av hans far och guru professor Balkrishna Upadhye,<br />

representerar en unik blandning av indisk och väster ländsk<br />

teknik. Han har framträtt på musikaliska samman komster över<br />

hela världen och har vunnit flera nationella priser. Han har<br />

under visat på Lalit Kala Kendra, universitet i Pune och leder för<br />

närvarande ett av de äldsta violininstituten i Indien.<br />

Mukesh Jadhav är en hängiven elev till tabla-trollkarlen Pandit<br />

Shantaram Chigri. Han påbörjade sina studier i tabla vid tre<br />

års ålder, och inledde sin artistkarriär som femåring. Han har<br />

fått flera nationella utmärkelser, framträtt i indisk radio och<br />

ackompan jerat hyllade violinister och sitarister i USA, Australien,<br />

Malaysia, Singapore, Japan och Europa. Han är Hedersguru på<br />

Lalit Kala Kendra vid universitetet i Pune.<br />

Jari Palmeri är sitarspelare och ackompanjatör på tanpura. Han<br />

har studerat på konservatoriet i Vicenza i norra Italien, rest i<br />

Indien för att möta den indiska musiken på nära håll och har<br />

varit elev hos Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan.<br />

For Ustad shahid parvez Khan, music is not a discipline, but life<br />

itself. He descends from six generations of sitarists and is one of the<br />

leading exponents of the Etawah Gharana, a musical tradition or<br />

” family” committed to this most famous of Indian instruments. He<br />

was trained by his father and guru, Ustad Aziz Khan. From the<br />

age of three he was trained in the classical vocal music that forms the<br />

foundation of the ”gayaki ang” – a style of sitar playing which transfers<br />

the emotional directness and tonal nuance of the human voice to the<br />

instrument. He started performing in public already at the age of<br />

eight. Perse verance and hard work over the years has been rewarded<br />

with an extra ordinary technical prowess, and today Khan is widely<br />

re cognised as one of the greatest sitar players in the world. He has<br />

received numerous national and international awards. He has performed<br />

in all the major music festivals in India and maintains a rigorous<br />

worldwide tour schedule. According to the Indian magazine<br />

Rajasthan Patrika: ”After listening to Ustad Shahid Parvez, the<br />

future of the sitar is still bright after Ravi Shankar.”<br />

atulkumar Upadhye is an ardent violinist. Drawing inspiration from<br />

his father and guru, Prof. Balkrishna Upadhye, Atulkumar’s style represents<br />

a unique blend of Indian and Western technique. He has performed<br />

at music conferences worldwide, and has won several national<br />

awards. He has taught at the Lalit Kala Kendra of Pune University<br />

and currently heads one of the oldest violin institutes in India.<br />

Mukesh Jadhav is an ardent disciple of tabla wizard Pandit<br />

Shanta ram Chigri. He started his tabla studies at the age of three, and<br />

began his career as a performer at the age of five. He has re ceived<br />

numerous national awards, performed on Indian radio and worked<br />

with acclaimed performers, accompanying sitar and violin per formances<br />

in the US, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, and Europe. He is<br />

Hono rary Guru at Lalit Kala Kendra at Pune University, Pune.<br />

Jari palmeri is a sitar player and tanpura accompanist. He has<br />

attended the Conservatory in Vicenza in northern Italy, travelled to<br />

India to meet Indian music close up, and has studied with Ustad<br />

Shahid Parvez Khan.<br />
