5.2 Species or sub-species<br />

Scientists are not sure whether the three species of Goura are real species or sub-species to one<br />

species. Species has been defined in many ways and there still isn't a definition which everyone<br />

agrees with. The classis definition of a species is based on reproductive isolation and coming from<br />

Ernst W. Mayr (1904-2005). Mayr was one of the 20th century's leading evolutionary biologists<br />

and defined species as:<br />
