Student visa for Switzerland
(stay of more than 3 months)
An appointment by phone (1-900 222 340, THB 9/min) is required for all visa applications. The
number can only be dialed within Thailand.
To apply for a student visa for Switzerland, the applicant (legal resident of Thailand, Cambodia,
Myanmar or Laos) must submit the following documents in person:
• Three visa application forms, duly filled out, dated and signed by the applicant;
• Three passport-sized pictures;
• Passport, valid at least three months after the end of the planned stay in Switzerland;
• Two photocopies of the passport;
• Written attestation from the school/university that will be attended;
• attestation about the payment of the school fees;
• proof of financial means for the duration of the proposed stay in Switzerland (bank statement
of applicant; bank statement of her/his parents together with a letter of sponsorship; bank
statement and letter of guarantee by sponsors in Switzerland etc.);
• diploma of already completed studies and CV
• written commitment to leave Switzerland after the requested stay;
• letter of motivation: this document must include 1) the reason for studying in Switzerland (the
applicant should prove, that the proposed studies, i.e. languages, hotel, university etc., are
necessary for further studies or employment in the country of residence) 2) the future plans of
the applicant after the studies in Switzerland;
• Applicants under the age of 18 must show their birth certificate and their application must be
signed by both parents. A parental consent (done at Amphoe) is necessary for parents who
do not travel with their child;
All documents must be presented in original, accompanied by a photocopy.
The Embassy will only accept files that are absolutely complete. The Embassy of Switzerland reserves
the right to request other documents and/or information, without justification or forewarning. The latest

Application for a Swiss visa costs CHF 55.00 (for the exact amount in THB / USD please refer to the
separate price list on our website). The exact amount in THB for Thailand / USD for Laos,
Myanmar and Cambodia must be paid when the file is handed in. This fee is not refunded in case the
application is rejected. A shipping and handling fee of CHF 5.00 (separate price list) is also required.
In Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, please contact the Consulate of Switzerland for the exact fee.
Visas cannot be applied for by post.

Procedure:
The Embassy will assess the languages knowledge of the applicant
The request for a student visa will then be submitted to the competent Swiss Authority for decision.
The Aliens police of the respective Canton may request additional documents and information.
Please be advised that the administrative process for the required authorisation to enter
Switzerland may take up to three months.
The applicant can call the Embassy (02 254 4596) after two months (not earlier) to ask if the
application has been approved. No other information will be given on the phone.
Once the application has been approved, the passport can be brought to the Embassy.
The visa can be picked up 48 hours (two working days) after the passport is handed in.
