Part Time Executive Director<br />
Submit Expressions of Interest by May 31, 2005<br />
The Pan American Group (PAG) of the <strong>International</strong> <strong>Ozone</strong> <strong>Association</strong> (IOA) is seeking<br />
an energetic individual to assume the duties of a Part-Time Executive Director. Since<br />
1978, PAG has been instrumental in the development of ozone for treatment of potable<br />
water, high-purity water, municipal wastewater and industrial wastewater throughout<br />
Canada, USA and central/south America.<br />
Recently, ozone has found numerous applications in the food and agricultural industries<br />
and in air treatment and has embarked on an ambitious program to attract members from<br />
these application areas.<br />
PAG is a not-for-profit association of researchers, academics, ozone generator<br />
manufacturers, ozone system suppliers, engineers, ozone users and students. The PAG<br />
membership is currently at 700 members. Plans are underway to increase that<br />
membership to 845 by the end of 2005.<br />
PAG is a member of the <strong>International</strong> <strong>Ozone</strong> <strong>Association</strong>, which also includes Japanese<br />
Group and a European/Asia/Africa/Australia Group. Total IOA membership is<br />
approximately 1500 worldwide.<br />
The part-time Executive Director will manage the day-to day activities of a contracted<br />
Management Consultant Firm. The position will report to the 6-member PAG Executive<br />
Board. The Executive Board and General Board serve on a volunteer basis.<br />
The annual budget of PAG is approximately $215,000. Revenues are derived through<br />
memberships, sponsorships, book/CD-ROM sales and conferences.<br />
The position will include a monthly stipend ranging from $2,000 to $2,400 per month<br />
depending upon negotiated responsibilities. The PAG includes an annual expense budget<br />
for the position of $ 12,000 to cover the cost of travel required of the position. A more<br />
detailed Position Description is attached.<br />
Expressions of Interest should be directed to PAG Chair, Bob Jarnis. Expressions of<br />
Interests should be received by May 31, 2005 and should include the following;<br />
1. Briefly define previous experience and involvement with PAG.<br />
2. Briefly define previous experience and involvement with other not-forprofit<br />
organizations and other professional organizations.<br />
3. Briefly define previous experience and involvement within the following<br />

POSITION DESCRIPTION<br />
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR<br />
Pan American Group- <strong>International</strong> <strong>Ozone</strong> <strong>Association</strong><br />
The Executive Director will assume the duties and responsibilities as defined herein for a<br />
period of including the remainder of 2005 and 2006.<br />
A. General Administrative Duties and Responsibilities<br />
1. Direct and manage IOA PAG Management Consultant activities<br />
2. Notify IOA PAG membership of events, issues and relevant industry-wide<br />
activities and professional information.<br />
B. Membership Duties and Responsibilities<br />
1. Respond to membership questions and requests as appropriate.<br />
2. Work with the PAG Board and Task Forces to actively increase membership.<br />
C. PAG Board Coordination Duties and Responsibilities<br />
1. Prepare for and attend all regularly scheduled PAG Board meetings.<br />
2. Prepare an Executive Directors report for each regular PAG Board meeting.<br />
3. Prepare for Board meetings by forwarding to all Board members advance copies<br />
of the following:<br />
a. Agenda<br />
b. Copies of Minutes of Previous Meetings<br />
c. Copy of Executive Director’s Report<br />
d. Copy of Reports by others.<br />
e. Additional information as maybe requested by the Chairperson or Board<br />
D. Assistance with Publications and Communications Duties and Responsibilities<br />
1. Identify, solicit and communicate relevant membership and industry activities and<br />
professional information to PAG membership through e-mail, web site and <strong>Ozone</strong><br />
News channels.<br />
E. Financial Duties and Responsibilities<br />
1. Manage accounting activities of the Management Consultant to assure accurate<br />
information is provided to the IOA PAG Chair.<br />
F. Conference and Workshop Duties and Responsibilities<br />
1. Coordinate and direct the efforts to plan and execute PAG Conferences,<br />
specialized <strong>Ozone</strong> Application Workshops and any PAG-hosted World<br />
Congresses.<br />
2. Develop and negotiate vendor contracts for PAG Board execution.<br />

3. Coordinate organizing committee development of support activities for PAG<br />
Conferences and Workshops.<br />
4. Attend Task Force and Board-Approved conferences and Workshops to ensure<br />
events are conducted as planned and in compliance with the executed contracts<br />
between PAG and the various vendors. Assist conference and workshop attendees<br />
and work toward ensuring each attendee has a positive experience.<br />
5. Maintain registration desk.<br />
6. Maintain payment and receipt records for proper accounting.<br />
7. Prepare written summaries of Workshops or regional conferences including<br />
attendee list, and expense/revenue records.<br />
8. Direct and support the activities of the organizing committees.<br />
G. PAG Promotion and Growth Duties and Responsibilities<br />
1. Staff the IOA Booth at AWWA, WEFTEC and other Board-approved conferences<br />
or workshops as appropriate to the success of the conference.<br />
2. Maintain regular communication with PAG membership to foster PAG promotion<br />
and growth.<br />
3. Coordinate Board and Task Force developed plans to increase PAG exposure to a<br />
broader public including; attendance at non-PAG conferences, PAG member<br />
participation in non-PAG conferences and regular liaison with targeted non-PAG<br />
professional groups.<br />
4. Organize, prepare for and coordinate IOA PAG representation at meetings with<br />
regulatory groups as approved by the Board.<br />
5. Oversee the development of applied research projects as directed by the Board.<br />
Manage applied research projects to ensure research goals are met on schedule<br />
and within budget.<br />
6. Oversee application for and management of externally funded grants.<br />
H. Coordination with IOA-<strong>International</strong> duties and responsibilities<br />
1. Assist, as directed by the Board in the planning and organization of World<br />
Congress when not hosted by the PAG.<br />
