Envy of the Hockey World
At over 400,000 square feet, Ralph
Engelstad Arena features a suite level
with 48 luxury suites and 2 mini suites.
The ice level has state-of-the-art locker
and training rooms for UND, with a
huge weight-training area, players’
lounge and classroom/study area. The
main concourse level has a lobby for
ticket sales, administrative offices, the
Sioux Shop and a spacious ‘traditions
area’ featuring trophies, photos, and
All-Americans.
The arena seats just fewer than 12,000
and is typically at capacity for UND
men’s hockey games. Wide, spacious
concourses serve a variety of stadium
food and treats and are complete with
television monitors. Thanks to the private
donation of Ralph Engelstad, the
University of North Dakota has a facility
that is truly the envy of all the NCAA
and the world! In 2009, the Ralph
opened a new full-service hockey
training facility: The Hockey Academy
at Ralph Engelstad Arena. The Hockey
Academy staff consists of former UND
and professional hockey players that
facilitate training to area athletes of all
ages and skill levels.
Besides UND hockey, Ralph Engelstad
Arena was instrumental in bringing the
2005 World Junior Hockey Championship
