City walks
The inner courtyard of the Yellow Square was covered
with a colourful “woven carpet” created by artist Beat
Zoderer (*1955).
Follow Kreuzweg and cross the street to Trafoplatz.
On the left side of the square you can see the Brown
Boveri & Cie. original founder’s building from 1891.
For decades, the old bell accompanied the employees
throughout their work day.
17 Convention Center Trafo Baden
In 1950, the BBC’s own architect Roland Rohn built a
high-voltage laboratory, an almost windowless structure.
Burkard Meyer architects transformed it into the
Convention Center Trafo Baden, a type of community
hall for Baden, and expanded it with a five-theatre
multiplex cinema. A foyer flanked by shops, restaurants
and a fitness park acts as a link between the
centre and the cinema.
