Nesna
Nesna Municipality is a part
of the ”Land of the Arctic
Circle”, and it is found on
the coast approximately 70
kilometres south-west of Mo i
Rana. The Hurtigruten (coastal
express) stops at Nesna and
the coastal express as well, in
addition to bus connections
to Mo i Rana. From Nesna,
you can take the ferry to the
islands of Hugla, Handnesøy
and Tomma.
Nesna is a small town, but you
will find all the services you
need like banks, shops and petrol
stations. This is where Petter
Dass began his career as a poet
while he worked as a curate
from 1672 to 1689. Nesna is
also known for its “Nesna-lobben”
(traditional winter boots
made of felt).

VIEWPOINT
There are several marked
trails in the area, also in the
mountains. Bjørndalen and
Hamarøysanden are two places
to ask for. On Tomma you can
visit the Finnvikdalen Valley
featuring the world’s largest
Southern Samí turf hut. Along
Rv17, north of Nesna center,
you can stop at the mountain
Sjonfjellet for a scenic view over
the skerries of Helgeland.
