Leirfjord is centrally situated on the
coast of Helgeland. From Mosjøen
you can get here via highway Rv78,
from Sandnessjøen via Rv17 over the
Helgelandsbrua bridge, or by ferry
from Nesna.
Leland is the centre for the
local council area covering the
Leirfjord area and has places
to eat, banks, post office and
shops. You will also find “The
Old School”, part of the Leirfjord
collection of preserved
buildings. The Old School
has been restored to its 19th
century state. The sexton and
teacher’s accommodation and
all furnishings have also been
restored to depict the same era.
At Bardal, you will find Wangbrygga
with its shop museum
and art gallery. Food is available.
Only open on weekends in
the summer.
Leirfjord
remains dating back over 1,000
years. We also have the Fjelltrim
«mountain fit» programme
with 10 checkpoints spread
throughout the area. For
example you can take a trip to
Borgen and Veten in Bardal or
to the log cabin near the lake
Nylandsvannet.
HIKING
Leirfjord has some beautiful
