Brønnøysund is Sør-Helgeland’s
regional center with all the services
you might need. The Coastal Express
services Brønnøysund daily in the
afternoon, and always creates a
”special feeling of excitement” on the
dock. The city’s local airport enjoys
several daily departures to the north
and south, along with numerous daily
bus connections to Sandnessjøen,
Mosjøen and Namsos.
Brønnøy features a variety of
business activities, and agriculture
is still a key industry in this
municipality. Brønnøy’s other
industries range from marble
operations to aquaculture to
a well-established offering of
services. The Brønnøysund
Register Centre is one of Norway’s
largest employers with
more than 400 employees.
TORGHATTEN
Tradition has it that the hole
in Torghatten was made by an
arrow from Hestmannen - the
”Horse-man”. The Saga also
narrate how the many mountains
along our coast came to
be. The hole in Torghatten
is 166 meters long, 75 meters
Brønnøy
km from Brønnøysund. There
is a groomed trail up to the
hole (about a 20 min. walk).

HILDURS URTERARIUM
Just north of Brønnøysund,
near Tilrem, we find Hildur’s
Urterarium, a food, wine and
herb farm. Sales of light lunch
meals prepared in the baker’s
oven in the garden.
TOSENVEIEN ROAD
We recommend a trip to
Velfjord. Take the ”Tosenveien”
- Rv76. At Nevernes you can
visit Nevernes Harbour and one
of Northern Norway’s oldest
wooden churches (1674), located
2 km west of Hommelstø.
We also recommend a visit to
Velfjord museum, 4 km southeast
of Hommelstø. There is
also an interesting pottery shop
