Mostly renowned for the Norwegian
Revue Festival held every
other year. The next festival
will be 4 - 8 July 2007, see www.
revy.no. In addition to being
home to the Norwegian Revue
Center, Høylandet town center
also features; stores, workshops,
post office and banking
services as well as overnight
accommodation at Revyrikets
Guest House and Børstad Farm.

ATTRACTIONS
The Høylandet Church (1860)
is home to Høylandsteppet
dating from the 1100s, a rare
woven fabric based on middle
age church art (here in the form
of a reproduction). Grongstadfossen
Waterfall (75 m) near
Høylandet town centre along
with the distinct Hammer
”covered bridge”.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
Dozens of marked hiking trails
in the summer and one of the
region’s best networks of ski
trails in the winter. Reasonablypriced
fishing of trout and Arctic
Char, many fishing lakes and
ice-fishing in the winter. The
River Søråa, a tributary stream
of the Namsen River, offers visitors
good and intimate salmon
fishing. Fishing permits and
boat rental is available at petrol
stations and campgrounds.
Sales of traditional local foods
and handicrafts are available in
the summer.
