ATTRACTIONS<br />
At Bertnem farm by the Namsen<br />
River, on Rv760 towards<br />
Grong, there are three monumental<br />
hills dating from the<br />
Iron Age (550-800 AD). Bertnem<br />
was considered a king’s estate<br />
or chieftain’s seat for large<br />
parts of the Namdalen Valley<br />
during the Merovingian period.<br />
Parking and information.<br />
The lovely Ranem church is<br />
more than 800 years old. It is<br />
constructed in Romanesque<br />
style from rocks with a marble<br />
base. The altar piece, dating<br />
from 1678, is very beautiful and<br />
special. Open in July 10-15 pm.<br />

SALMON FISHING IN THE NAMSEN<br />
RIVER<br />
Namsen is one of Norway’s<br />
best salmon rivers. It separates<br />
the municipality of Overhalla<br />
in two sections. Salmon fishing<br />
in the Namsen and Bjøra<br />
Rivers is a great attraction.<br />
You can fish from land; try fly<br />
fishing or fish from a boat at<br />
very reasonable prices. Fishing<br />
licenses are available at the local<br />
sports dealer, who also keeps<br />
records of the sizes of salmon<br />
caught. The tourist information<br />
in Namsos will help you find<br />
available salmon fishing.<br />

Nice hiking in the Vesterå area<br />
and Skistad (Øysletta) on the<br />
southside of Namsen. Near<br />
Haugen Keramikk and Grande<br />
Gaard is Namdal Golf Club’s<br />
