But the commitment of a healthy lifestyle will benefit all areas of our lives. Have you shown the same level of commitment to your Beach Chamber membership? Has your membership remained active or have you let your membership just lie there, with the hope that business will automatically find its way to your door? Getting involved with the many networking opportunities that are available to you is the key to building lasting business and personal relationships. People want to do business with people they know and trust. What is the best way to get new customers into your business? Host a special event and invite them! Grand Openings, Groundbreakings and Anniversary Celebrations are considered to be the most exciting events for a new or existing business. They increase awareness about your company, product or services and are a significant part of your marketing and advertising plan. Here are a few things to consider when planning your big event: u Set the Date Allow yourself plenty of time to organize the details of your event. Planning should begin three or four weeks ahead of the actual event date. The best days of the week for the most Ambassador attendance are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Late afternoon and early evening functions are the most popular and successful. u Guest List Consider potential and current customers, suppliers, employees, Chamber members and Chamber staff, government officials, friends, family, business associates, and the media. For additional media coverage, send a press release to news directors and city editors including all the details of your event. u What to Serve Hors d’oeuvres and beverages are typically served, but it is your preference as to how you want to set the tone of the occasion. You can make it as simple or as elaborate as you would like. We want to ensure that your event is a complete success, so in addition to bringing the welcoming Ambassadors, scissors, ribbon and camera for the photo shoot, we will support you every step of the way. v v v THE CIRCUIT September/October 2012 85
