night,” and the same goes
for dancing. Success happens

Fred Astaire Dance Studio is
committed to excellence and
integrity; its mission is to enrich
the life of everyone who
walks through their doors.”
Fred Astaire’s unique teaching
method includes regularly
scheduled private instruction
as well as group sessions
and practice sessions.
Students are introduced to
the basics of several dances
and learn the Fred Astaire
method of teaching. Starter
courses are available.
Private instruction with one
or more key teachers gives
the specialized and personalized
attention necessary to
look and feel great on the
dance floor. You will receive
the necessary tools to
lead or follow any partner.
The studio is open
from 11:45 am to 8:45
pm Monday through
Friday, and on Saturday
by appointment. In
most cases, instructors
can work around the
students’ schedules,
including weekends.
Group lessons are a
necessary part of becoming
a comfortable dancer
because this is where
patterns are learned. As
a member of the Fred
Astaire dance studio, students
receive unlimited
group sessions. Group
lessons provide opportunities
to meet other students
with similar dancing goals.
Semi dressy practice parties
are held every Thursday
evening with classic hits of
yesterday, and more casual
practice parties every Friday
evening featuring today’s hit

Protect Your Eyes
The next time you
head to the beach or out
on the water, and you go to
grab that bottle of SPF 50
to lather down with head to
toe, just stop for one minute
and ask yourself, “Why
don’t I just use some baby
oil instead?”
Sound crazy? Well, while
many of us would not
dream of doing this for the
fear of the damage that it
would do to our skin, most
never seem to take the time
to think about the damage
the same UV rays can do
to our eyes! And yes, your
eyes can get sunburned just
like our skin does. When
you do not protect your
eyes, the UV rays can damage
the membrane that
coats the inside of the eye
or even worse, repeated
exposure causes damage to
the lens which may eventually
cause cataracts.
All of this can be prevented
simply by wearing a quality
pair of sunglasses that offer
100% UVA and UVB. Yet
many people still choose
to wear nothing or even
worse, a pair of glasses that
block only a partial amount
of UV light. Many explain
their decision to do so
based on the higher cost of
a good pair of sunglasses
versus a low-end pair. Well
I say:
“Though cataract and other
eye surgeries are becoming
more affordable, it is still
much cheaper and safer to
just go out and buy a nice
pair of Costa, Ray-Ban,
Oakley or any other quality
sunglass to simply prevent
the damage in the first
place.”
